RUNWAY

Runway is a 20,000 open air venue designed and fabricated by Lucid Creates for Creamfields Festival. 

This hugely ambitious show is a 360, transportative experience -  a 60 metre long x 4 metre wide video screen hangs over the audience, suspended from above. The huge stretch of video screen reaches out over the crowd from behind the DJ at a 22 degree angle. Eight 12m high towers lined with video screen and lighting hold the crowd in the space, creating a wholly unique outdoor venue and experience.

Audiences are completely encapsulated by RUNWAY, an extra-ordinary, imposing, industrial structure commands its surroundings through the day, disappearing as night falls, leaving the huge scale visual display to play out through the entire venue. Fast-paced visual content moves through the structure & overhead, twisting & turning above the audience, as if floating in mid-air. Viewers' perception of depth, reality and space are constantly changing and shifting as the mind-bending visual display takes hold. 

The visual show consists of complex geometric patterns which unfold, grow and move across the screen and down onto the towers, with show stopping moments of intense blocks of colour and halo effects travelling up and down the arena - creating optical illusions that play with the space and environment that surrounds the audience, placing them at the centre of shared experience with the artists on the stage.

The RUNWAY visual spectacular explores human connection on both micro and macro levels, playing with the audience’s perception of space through dynamic synchronisation of geometric lines, cellular growth, synapse movement & sonic visualisation.
