WORKSHOP ASSISTANT

FULL TIME 

 

ROLE

Lucid are looking for a bright and dedicated Workshop Assistant to assist our skilled in-house fabrication team with lots of scope to learn about stage, show & art installation design, fabrication & production and the opportunity to develop either as a fabricator or within the event production industry. 

You will be working as part of a small dynamic team of designers, welders, fabricators, LED & video techs to create spectacular stages and art installations that appear across the UK and internationally within an award-winning creative studio.

The candidate will be a great communicator with a positive outlook who enjoys supporting a team and the ability to respond well to instruction whilst also showing good problem solving skills and independent thought. Hands-on experience in a workshop or similar environment is advantageous but as this is a junior role it is not a pre-requisite. 

Salary: £12.50 an hour
Location: Based at Lucid’s workshop near Sittingbourne, Kent ME9 8QG
Hours: Our standard workshop hours are Mon – Fri 0800 – 1800
Start date: ASAP

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the lead fabricators as directed
  • Undertaking cutting, drilling, grinding, sanding, soldering, LED prep
  • Assisting with keeping a tidy workshop
  • Assisting with unloading deliveries and loading of trucks
  • Prepare components for fabricators
  • Adhoc duties in the workshop, sweeping, passing tools, supporting fabricators
  • Driving & running errands
  • Odd jobs to support a thriving, busy and varied workshop

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Own transport essential as our workshop is based on a farm and is 10 minutes drive from the nearest train station.
  • The applicant should be adaptable, flexible and have the ability to work under their own initiative but also liaise with other team members.
  • You will be in the workshop alongside other studio members
  • Detail-oriented and the ability to produce high quality work consistently
  • Full UK driving licence

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Hands on experience in a workshop or similar environment
  • Understanding of fabrication with metals, wood, plastics and variety of finishes
  • FLT licence
  • H&S Training
